I am Tamil-American researcher, writer, policy advocate, and campaign strategist, and have spent much of my career challenging corporate and state control of technology. I am based in Los Angeles, California.
I have worked with several tech accountability organizations in the US, including Accountable Tech, Check My Ads Institute, and The Governance Lab at NYU. I have researched and written about platform power and antitrust, biometric and gig worker surveillance, carceral technology, and reproductive privacy.
These days, I am writing and building around the following things:
- Counter-surveillance and community capacity building — how can we document invisible and visible surveillance infrastructure that shapes urban life through photography and narrative storytelling?
- Speculative technology — how can we imagine and build a future beyond Big Tech?
- Digital memory & archiving — how can we use digital tools to preserve memory and physical spaces?
